I’ve known about this free horse racing system for a long time but couldn’t find any sources on the web for it. Due to this, I’ll write it here and share it with you – it goes like this:
- Find your favorite track – any day and any track is fine
- Discard any race less than 1000 m or longer than 1600 m
- Discard any race with less than 8 horses or more than 12 horses
- Discard any horses that aren’t aged between 4 and 5 years old
- Discard any horse who won or ran a place at their last start
- Discard any horse who didn’t win 2 starts ago
- Discard any horse carrying more than 54.5 kg after apprentice allowances
- Discard any horse with less than 3 career wins
- Discard any horse who has a winning percentage of less than 10%
- Discard any horse that had it’s last race less than 7 days ago or more than 17 days ago
- Discard any horse who has not had at least 2 races since its last spell
- ANY HORSE LEFT IS NOW A SELECTION
This one’s as old as the sport itself but I truly like it for several reasons. First, the reasoning behind each elimination step is logically sound. Secondly, it introduces you to what handicapping is all about in a very simple manner. And third, it’s a pretty solid helping hand even if it’s free and widely used.
