What is a Lucky 31?

A Lucky 31 is a full-cover bet on five selections. It contains 31 bets: 5 singles, 10 doubles, 10 trebles, 5 four-folds and 1 five-fold accumulator. It is a Super Yankee (Canadian) with the five singles added, so a single winner gives a return.

How much does a Lucky 31 cost?

31 times the unit stake: £31 for a £1 Lucky 31, £15.50 at 50p. Each way it is 62 bets, so £62 at £1 a line.

Pick Per bet to type the unit stake (what most betting slips ask for), or Total to type what you want to spend and let the calculator split it. An each way bet is two bets per line, so it costs double.

How it pays out

Each of the 31 bets is settled on its own and the returns are added up. With two winners you collect two singles and one double; with three you collect three singles, three doubles and a treble; and so on up to all 31 bets when every selection wins. Some bookmakers add bonuses for one winner or for all five, and the terms vary, so tick them only if your bookmaker offers them.

Frequently asked questions

31: 5 singles, 10 doubles, 10 trebles, 5 four-folds and one five-fold.

A Canadian (Super Yankee) has the same 26 multiples but no singles, so it needs two winners for any return. A Lucky 31 adds the five singles.

It depends on the odds. One winner returns only its single, so it needs a big price to cover 31 stakes. Type your own odds into the calculator and mark different results to see where the bet breaks even.
