How to calculate a return from odds
Turn the price into decimal odds, then multiply by the stake. Decimal odds already include the stake, so £10 at 3.5 returns £35, which is £25 profit plus your £10.
- Fractional (5/2): divide, then add 1. 5 / 2 = 2.5, plus 1 = 3.5.
- American positive (+250): divide by 100, then add 1 = 3.5.
- American negative (-200): divide 100 by 200, then add 1 = 1.5.
Combined odds for a multiple
For a double, treble or accumulator, multiply the decimal odds together. 2/1 and 6/4 are 3.0 x 2.5 = 7.5, which is 13/2 as a fraction. Add selections to the calculator to see the combined price.
Implied probability
Implied probability is 1 divided by the decimal odds. 3.5 implies 28.6%; evens implies 50%. Add up the implied probabilities of every runner in a race and you get the book percentage, which is above 100% because of the bookmaker's margin. To see the margin on a whole market and the fair odds with it removed, use our implied probability calculator.
